Purfling Groove Cutter

This tool is designed to cut, not just mark, a purfling groove. Two cutters are needed, since each cutter has only one blade. One cutter is set to cut the outside edge, while the other is set to cut the inside edge. Three passes are normally needed to cut the groove to full depth. Incise the inside edge, incise the outside edge, remove the wood between the incisions with a small chisel - repeat this process twice more.

One set-screw clamps the blade in place. Two small screws on the side fix the blade distance adjustment, and one screw in the back adjusts the blade distance.

The cutter head is made of 6061 aluminum. The wooden handle is primarily for balance and easier alignment of the cutter.
